As I mentioned in my previous blog, LINK. Pattaya is known for Asia’s beach resort and the second most visited city in Thailand, after Bangkok. Yes, this is also true. I did even mention that if you are going to visit Pattaya with your family, friends and being away from a number one famous attraction here. Again, base yourself outside the central area; so, you can have a relaxing stay.
Even though, Pattaya is also known as a party destination. I’m pretty sure that you can still find an ideal place for your vacation. It depends of course, on what kind of holiday you are looking for. In fact, you have three options to choose from as Pattaya is divided into three main areas such as Pattaya beach, Jomtien beach, and Naklua. All of these are also close to any district with tourist attractions as well. And, each area has its own distinct attractions and atmosphere. You can find a very inexpensive stay in Pattaya here: Booking.com, Tripadvisor.
Pattaya Beach is only recommended if you are into water sports. The beach here is not even the best attraction as it is the home to a massive number of jet skis, parasails, speedboats, banana boats, as well as floating restaurant and diving boats. However, you can take advantage of taking pictures to a line of palm trees away from the shore and enjoy the lively atmosphere, explore its thrilling nightlife scene, where partying continues until dawn.
Jomtien beach has a moderate view and mild pace. It is quieter here compared to Pattaya beach. However, if you feel like you don’t want to stay at the beach and wants to see more attractions. You can go to the world-renewed botanical gardens, exciting water parks, cultural and religious sites. You can even find some exquisite restaurants in the area. There is also a great selection of superb hotels for all budgets. Inexpensive hotels.
Naklua beach, on the other hand, is a great choice if you want to enjoy a beach holiday as part of your trip to Pattaya. This is a great place to visit if you want to get a feel of local life. ‘Naklua’ means ‘salted fields’, you definitely see a salt farm here because it is their main industry of the area before the tourist arrived. You can check out their best hotels here as well; great hotels.
Pattaya Viewpoint is located at Pratumnak Hill known as Khao Pattaya. It offers a breathtaking view of Pattaya beach and the city. It is more popular in the evening time because of the chance to see the sunset on the horizon. You can definitely enjoy the perfect and stunning scenery. From here, you can see the Bali Hai Pier, the gateway to Koh Larn Island- a wondrous sightseeing place. (watch out for my next blog!!! about Koh Larn Island…)
This Big Buddha Statue in Pattaya is also a highlight here because of its 18-meter-tall which popping up through the trees. Basically, this is truly popular with tour groups who are very passionate to see a baroque design of the statue and the temple compound, but it is also admired by local people who come to pray at the temple. As you can see, there is a stairway leading up to the temple with these astounding golden dragons running along with the whole handrails, and at the foot of the stairs, seven-headed mythical snakes called Nagas emerge from the dragon’s mouths. When you visit here, you make sure that you bring a bottle of water as it requires some walking. Also, prepare for at least a small donation so you can be blessed by a monk in return. The Wat Phra Yai Temple is located at the Pratumnak Hill which about 2-km from South Pattaya and there is no entrance fee. If you don’t want to walk to go here, you can take a ‘songtaew’ which will cost you around 150-200 baht.
Wat Chaimongkol Temple is located on South Pattaya Road. This temple was established in 1937, donated by a local benefactor. You can include this in your itinerary when you visit Pattaya.
One of the highlights of my trip was able to meet a ‘Kababayan’ (countryman) from the Philippines. This ‘biatch’ (guy) is simply a lot of fun to be around. He also likes to travel a lot. In fact, he has been to more than 50 countries. I enjoyed so much of his sense of humor that takes delight in almost everything — from sarcasm to situational comedy. (haha!!!) We became an instant friend, did some crazy stuff but hmmm… ‘What happens in Pattaya, Stays in Pattaya’. You can follow on his Instagram account: @poppy_gee_travels
Pattaya is indeed a big place with various attractions from one end to the other. It has a huge amount of variety in terms of what you can see and do.
