Khao Yai National Park

By: iamAldonLopez | December 09, 2018

Did you know that Khao Yai is home to a variety of animals? Yes, indeed! It is one of the few places in Thailand where wild animals such as deer, elephants, pig-tailed macaques, gibbons still alive. This is also a set in an area of mountains, falls and forest with an exceptionally spectacular view, picturesque waterfalls and lots of plants and wildlife.

This place is definitely a best choice for an outdoor activities in Thailand.

One of the things some tourists may not be aware of the fact that this country is blessed with some of the most varied landscapes in the world. Thailand has more to offer not just the countless nightlife, beaches, temples and great food.

“a scenic view from Dong Phayayen view deck.”

Whether it’s a day trip or overnight here is definitely possible. They have two campsites here within the park boundaries, where you can rent a tent from 250 baht (2pax) or just bring your own tent. Other accessories such as pillows, blankets, sleeping bags have a rental fee as well for 20-50 baht each.

“Pocupines and civets are common at the camp site during the night, make sure to have flashlights.”

This national park has many waterfalls and very accessible by car combined with a short trail. In my case, I haven’t got a chance to go to Haew Narok Waterfall as it needs longer hiking with guide assistance. And that was around 5:30 PM already. Instead, I decided to go to the nearest one with a short trail in Pha Kluaymai waterfall.

Unfortunately, the water wasn’t that clear as I expected as it was raining before the day I went there. However, there is spring outside national park and still, part of Khao Yai named Ban Tha Chang spring with has natural crystal blue water. I fall in love with this wondrous spring.

“Absolutely cool and fresh water from the ground.”

According to local, the spring emerges naturally from the ground. The rainwater is being filtered by rocks which have high calcium carbonate content coming through to that surface (2nd to the last picture above). It makes sense why it’s crystal blue and fresh.

After a long day, it’s time to check in. We decided to check in at Srisaward Camp as it has accommodation with mountain views and a cool playground.

Entrance to Srisaward Camp located at 73 Moo 5 Pak Chong, Thailand.
